We are on to show number 12!!
The previous Shows have been very successful thanks to New Mexico's great support and we have grown each year. 2010 will be even better and there will be Guides, Outfitters and Lodges from Alaska, Canada, Missouri, Texas and even a real Africa Safari Outfitter.
We will have hands on demonstrations, informative seminars and fun activities for the kids and adults alike. Door prizes and special trips will be given away.
It is unquestionably THE BEST SHOW in New Mexico and is also is the only Show of it's kind in the region. We draw from across the State and all adjacent states.
Hours are:
Friday 12:00 to 6:00
Saturday 9:00 to 6:00
Sunday 9:00 to 5:00
Admission is $8.00 for Adults 12 and over and Children 11 and under are Free

San Juan River
There have been a number of meetings about concerns with the San Juan River. There has been some concern about silting in parts of the River. This has been maintained by some activist organizations as related to Oil and Gas Production in the area. That is not true and has been shown to be totally untrue. However there does appear to be a problem and the River is changing. Some of the changes are a result of natural maturity for any water. Others are a concerns that can be addressed.
None who know anything about the River would argue that the River is not an exceedingly important part of the four corners economy, (particularly around Navajo Dam). To continue the quality of the River may take some money. What else is new. That money should be raised from those who use the River. It has been suggested that a Trout Stamp for the San Juan be approved by the Legislature. All License fees etc. must have the approval of the NM State Legislature.
I would encourage you to think about this Trout Stamp. I think it is a good idea. Those of us who fish the San Juan should be the ones to pay for the changes. The good news is that a great many of the fishermen are non-residents and therefore a large portion of the total proceeds would not affect the local population. When normal rod fees range anywhere from $25.00 to $200.00 a day, a few dollars for an Annual Fee would be relatively painless.

New Mexico Wildlife

New Mexico Wildlife
"New Mexico Wildlife" is the replacement for "Wild New Mexico". We are pleased to have the Show back on Casa Fox Ch. 2 Saturday mornings at 6:30. I know, I know it's too early, (except when you're going fishing), but tivo it or record it some other way and then watch it at you leisure.
New Shows with some really fun content. Family Friendly!! You don't have to worry about the Kids watching. Paul Evans, the Prducer, has done another of his fantastic video Photography jobs. Each Show will have several segments which we hope will entertain and educate about NM Wildlife.

New Mexico Wildlife and Wild New Mexico
I get a lot of questions about our TV Program Wild New Mexico. You can see the latest programs on your computer at www.myoutdoortv.com . The new version is "New Mexico Wildlife" sponsored by the Department of Game and Fish. I hope that very soom we will be back on Albuq. TV perhaps on Sat or Sun mornings. We will be on some Southern NM Stations beginning in June.

San Juan River News
Above is a chart of the flow rates for the Spring Peak Release Schedule for the San Juan River below Navajo Dam.
The powers that be, (those who control the flow rate for the San Juan), have published their estimated rates of flow for the Peak Release Schedule. This is the "Artificial Spring Runoff" that theoretically allow the sqawfish, oops -- the Colorado Pikey Minnow--, to spawn and meet the endangered species requirements.
Snow pack is estimated at 90% and the inflow to Navajo Dam at 93% of normal. This will mean that from the June date on, normal flow will be 500 cfs. That's good news.

The Fishing Report for February 5, 2009
Here's the latest on fishing around the State. Get out there and have some fun.
ICE FISHING
Only Ice Fishing allowed on Eagle Nest Lake (with restrictions), Lake Maloya and Lake Alice, and part of Bluewater Lake.
STREAM FISHING
Rio Grande - Some Trout taken around Pilar and the Taos Junction Bridge. No reports on Northern Pike
Albuquerqe Area Drains - Probably some of the best Trout fishing in the State since they were recently stocked.
Fenton Lake - Closed to ice fishing. Cebolla above and below is open.
Jemez Waters - All waters below the town are fishing fair to good. Some waters above the town but still lower elevations are rated as fair.
San Juan - Running at 499 cfs and relatively clear. Fair to Good reports from the quality water and slow to fair reports from the bait waters.
Escondida Lake - Fair to good reports since it was stocked last week.
Sumner Lake - a few fairly large Walleye taken with slab spoon deep and a few Crappie near the dam.
